The Ashby A’s played 2 home games over the weekend with some huge success! The first, was played Friday night against Millerville. The A’s worked for hours on a sloppy field before the game, getting it ready for play that evening. The start time got pushed back about 20 minute and it was a little chilly, but the game was played. The A’s bats caught fire early in the game and they never looked back. The first inning started with a Jordan Lillemon walk followed by a home run by Blake Ohren two batters later. Gage Olson started the 2nd inning off with a double, but was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a Chris Ohren single. Andrew Risbrudt then walked, as well as Jordan Lillemon right after loading the bases. Kyle Rylander then hit a 2 RBI single scoring Chris and Andrew. The score was 4-0 after 2. The bats cooled a bit until the A’s half of the 5th inning, when Lillemon lead off with a single followed by a Kyle Rylander bunt single. Blake Ohren drove in Lillemon with a sacrifice fly to right field. Chris Ohren singled to start the 6th and scored on an RBI single by Andrew Risbrudt to make it 6-0 going into the 7th. Tyson Langlie, Gage Olson and Chris Ohren were the first three to reach in the 8th with 2 walks and a Hit-by-Pitch. After a Risbrudt walk, Lillemon double, Dylan Barry single, and two more walks by Blake Ohren and Tanner Langlie, the game was called by 10 run rule. Andrew Risbrudt and Blake Ohren both pitched well for the team. The win was the 2nd of the season for the A’s.
Sunday saw a schedule change, making up a game with Swanville in Ashby. It was a beautiful afternoon for a ballgame and the A’s didn’t disappoint their faithful fans. The A’s again showed up early for some field and grounds maintenance, doing their part to keep the beautiful Chuck Anderson Sports Complex in good shape. A special thank you goes out to Brenda Johnson who works her tail off mowing the grass in order to keep the entire school grounds, as well as the Sports Complex, looking beautiful!
The first inning saw the Swans go on the board with a walk, double, and single. That would be all the scoring that the Swans would do on this afternoon. The A’s tied it up in their half of the inning with a walk and stolen base by Chris Ohren who was hit home by Blake Ohren on a sacrifice. Gage Olson doubled in the second and scored on a Jeremy Quernemoen single. Chris Rylander and Andrew Risbrudt both reached, and Chris Rylander scored on a Chris Ohren single. Kyle Rylander then added a single scoring both Risbrudt and Ohren. The A’s were ahead 5-1 after 2 innings. The 6th inning was the last one as Tony Ohren, Jeremy Quernemoen, and Dylan Barry hit singles and Blake Ohren and Gage Olson each added doubles. All five of them scored, along with Chris Ohren who had walked earlier, to finish the game at 12-1 in favor of the A’s.
